| Invitation
It is with pleasure that I extend to you
a warm invitation to attend the XXIV
World Congress of OMEP, which
is to be held in Melbourne, Australia in
July 2004. We encourage delegates from every
member country to attend this important
event, as well as early childhood practitioners,
academics, government officials, policy
makers, medical practitioners, nurses, lawyers,
community groups, parents and advocates.
The Congress is the first international
gathering of this type to be held in Australia
and as required by OMEP, will be conducted
in English, Spanish and French. It will
provide a platform to highlight OMEP's concern
for young children across the world.
The overall theme of the Congress is One
World: Many Childhoods. The Congress
program will provide opportunities to explore
issues such as children in difficult circumstances,
innovation in service delivery, indigenous
children's needs and services and children's
health and social services. You will be
challenged to think carefully about the
types of programs
delivered to young children.
An Exhibition of Children's Art will be
a highlight, and there will be a full program
of educational visits for those who are
interested in seeing something of the range
of early childhood programs delivered in
Melbourne, Australia.
Melbourne is well
renowned for many and varied attractions.
From fine dining and shopping, an impressive
offering of arts and culture, unforgettable
sights and sounds and botanic delights,
you'll find it all in Melbourne. Or discover
Victoria's breathtaking natural scenery,
spectacular coastal views, fascinating Aboriginal
heritage and delightful wildlife.
Make the decision and plan to come to Melbourne
in July 2004. Watch our website for details
of the program and registration.
We look forward to welcoming you
to the XXIV World Congress in our city.
