Welcome to OMEP Australia!
Welcome to this web site which will be regularly updated
and we expect that the information, articles and resources
will be a source for inspiration and hope for all people
with an interest in the early years. We hope that you will
find it useful too.
Who would have thought of web pages and cyberspace as a means of communication sixty years ago, when in 1946 Lady Allen of Hurtwood and Alva Myrdal presented their plan for the creation of a world organisation with a principal focus on the welfare of children 0-8 years.
Today, OMEP can be found in over 60 countries. It is an international non-profit, non-government, community based organisation dedicated to the enhancement of health, education and welfare for children 0-8 years.
Our broad membership mirrors the wide interest groups who
contribute to early childhood, including medicine, social
work, psychology, nursing, law, architecture and education
as well as bureaucrats and policy makers at all levels of
government and in the community. OMEP has a history of parent
involvement, sometimes at the highest level of the organisation.
